Visit of Archbishop Gabriel of Comana to Nottingham and Oxford

On Sunday 27 August 2006, Archbishop Gabriel of Comana celebrated the Divine Liturgy and preached in Nottingham at the invitation of the parish of SS Aidan and Chad, who voted in July to join the Exarchate of Orthodox Parishes of Russian Tradition, and were duly accepted by Archbishop Gabriel.

Concelebrants at the Liturgy were Bishop Basil of Amphipolis and Father David Gill.

After the Liturgy a meal was provided, at which members of the parish were able to meet and talk with Archbishop Gabriel and Bishop Basil.

Afterwards, Archbishop Gabriel travelled to Oxford for the Vigil of the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God, and celebrated the Divine Liturgy for the Feast in Oxford on Monday 28 August, with Bishop Basil of Amphipolis, Father Patrick Hodson, Father Seraphim Vantinnen-Newton and Father Alexander Fostiropoulos. Parishioners of the Russian Orthodox Parish of the Annunciation once more had the opportunity to meet Archbishop Gabriel at a meal after the Liturgy.
